This guide explains how a Competition Manager can edit disciplinary rules for a competition, depending on the competition’s status and match progression.
1. Editing Disciplinary Rules (Draft Status)
When a competition is in DRAFT status, the Competition Manager can freely configure and adjust all disciplinary rules.
Steps:
Open the competition and navigate to the Discipline tab.

Review the list of existing disciplinary rules.
Click Edit, then select the three dots next to the rule you want to modify.

Make the necessary changes.
Click Save to apply the updates.

While the competition remains in Draft, disciplinary rules can be edited as many times as needed.
2. Editing Disciplinary Rules (Scheduled Status)
When a competition moves to SCHEDULED status, editing rules becomes conditional:
- If no matches have been marked as Completed, disciplinary rules can still be edited.
- If one or more matches are marked as Completed, disciplinary rules can no longer be edited.

If the Competition Manager attempts to edit them, the system will display an error message.

3. If Matches Are Already Completed

If disciplinary rules need to be updated after matches have been marked as Completed, the Competition Manager must first revert all completed matches back to Scheduled status. You can find detailed guidance on reverting match statuses in the following user guide: Revert Match Status to Scheduled : FIFA Connect Support and FCMS Support
Once all completed matches have been reverted:

Return to the Discipline tab.
Make the required adjustments to the disciplinary rules.
Save the changes.
4. Re‑Marking Matches as Completed (Correct Order Required)
After updating the disciplinary rules, all matches must be marked back to Completed in the correct sequence:
Start with the latest match that was reopened.
Move chronologically backwards, marking each match as Completed until you reach the most recent completed match.
To illustrate this process, here is an example based on the screenshot below:
The latest match that was reopened is Match 2 in Group 1 (United FC vs Avengers FC), played on 17 July 2026. This match must be marked as Completed first.
The next match, played earlier, is Match 2 in Group 2 (Universal SC vs Athletic FC), played on 17 July 2026. This match should be marked as Completed second.
The earliest match reopened is Match 1 in Group 2 (Athletic FC vs Universal SC), played on 10 July 2026. This match should be marked as Completed last.
Following this order ensures that the updated disciplinary configuration is applied correctly across all matches.
